Default Coolant Overflow

Anyone ever hear of a radiator overflow bottle for 1960's Mustangs? Found some stainless steel models on Mustang Depot for $100, but nothing like the simple ones on today's cars.

NPD has 15" and 17" stainless overflow tubes for about 49.95. I use 2 of the 17" ones in our 67 and find they are a tad bit long but work fine. One is used for the overflow and the other for windshield wiper fluid. Didn't buy them from NPD but they looks to be exactly the same as the ones I got off eBay. As for the yellowish/white plastic overflow containers the local junkyard should be your friend. A noticed a pic the other day here of someone using an old Jack Daniels bottle as well.

No 64-73 Mustang ever came with an overflow tank from the factory.

For about $15 you can get a plastic overflow tank.

I used 2 10" x 3" overflow tanks on my car. Like Adrenolin they are for washer fluid and as an overflow tank. They fit well and are not as long. IIRC they even holdmore fluid than a 17" tank. Not sure and too lazy to do the math right now.

I bought a stainless overflow that sounds the same as what you are looking at (though for a little less). It looks great and I don't have to worry about loosing coolant any more. However, it was not a simple bolt on fit in my 68 with factory AC. In order to mount it next to the radiator, I had to drill two holes in the front sheet metal and mount it using two nylon spacers.

I bought one from Ebay for about $25 and it is stainless steel. Looks good and works great.

I found a really cool glass jar that was used on some type of overseas Ford called a Tannus. It looks really cool. I had to make a basket for it to sit in though.

I don't really care for the street rod looking cylinder ones either. I would rather just have a plastic one. I like being able to see the coolant level, without opening it up.

Most auto parts stores carry a generic overflow bottle. That's what's on my car. It's actually hanging from the washer fluid bag hangar (the bag is still hanging there, just not exactly where it's supposed to be)

Yeah, I bought one of those cheap plastic ones too. It works fine but I don't like the way it looks. I just hook it up when I go to the track and then take it back out when I get home.

Thanks for the link.. I had a hairline crack in the base of my rad overflow tube so I removed it and replaced it with the one I was going to use for my wipers. I might now replace them both with 2 of the 3x10 instead. btw I believe the 3x10s are 32oz and the 2x17s are 28oz.
