Unhappy Looking for sheetmetal 1970

I have a 1970 mustang fastback that i am restoring and have some rust in the sheetmetal where the fresh air vent is in the kick panel. I can not seem to find these anywhere. Can anyone help? Thanks

I dont know of anybody that makes those panels. Hopefully somebody else can chime in if they know of a maker. Or maybe give your prefered parts supplier a call to check with them. Another good company to call would be Dynacorn. They dont sell direct to the public but they would have to be making them for their body shells. So they might be able to hook you up with a supplier that could sell them.

How bad is the rust? When i did my torque boxes i had a couple of small holes that i cut some small patches for. If you come up empty with supplier then it might be cutting it out of a parts car.

i know of a guy who made his own. i think he claimed that dynacorn makes them and in addition forces you to purchase the complete inner side of the car at the same time. expensive....

post in the want adds on several forums for original metal from someone's parts car. there may be someone out there that will cut out this section for you.

You can try looking on the Boss 302 registry forums. There are a couple of guys that periodically cut up rust free 69-70 coupes for members to get OEM Ford panels like floors, cowls and frame sections for repairs on their Bosses, they might be able to help with that.

Its bad enough that patching it would be hard because of the contour of the metal. I think replacing the opening as a whole would be mush more time efficient.

Thanks for your help and advise everyone i will give it a shot with finding these from another car. I need both sides if anyone finds anything out there.

I would just use the Dynacorn panel.

Does dynacorn sell just the kickpanel? The only thing i have found is for the entire side box for $1200. This is a serious question and not sarcastic.

Strange- The side piece, where the fresh air vent mounts, is about $44 each from Glazier Nolan.

Unless you mean the outer part, that forms a kind of "cheek" that brings cowl air to the vents. I think GN has those for about $50 each.

You should probably call GN and ask them for the details, I'm reading text with little or no illustration, and may not be correct.

If you are referring to interior cowl panels that hold vent and kick panels cover. They were not made repo last year. Although the dynacorn guys told me they were in the works. I ended up cutting out bad spot and fabing something up. Can't see them anyway since they are covered by kick panels. You can call dynacorn directly and check current status. They make them for ealier years. And since you can buy a whole 69/70 shell now you'd think they would sell them.

Thank you 2+2GT, GN has them on page 76 of their online catalog, part # G10901 and G10902. The pic shows the 67-68 panels but the 69-70 have the curcular recessed area opened for the vent. The vent screws on with 6 screws. And the panel should also have 3 of the square-ish openings. I belive these are what I have been looking for now I hope they have them in stock. Thanks
