Default crane ignition system .. what a PITA

i bought the HI-6S box a year back. great pice of equipment. currently running with my pertronix.
Now i bought the distribuitor from crane (1600-1000), had it shipped from them per UPS (expensive). wanted to mount on weekend but that's a no-go.

the box I have is the only one from crane that doesn't have green/violett cable for magnetic/optical pickup. only the red/white so you can use with points, pertronix etc ...

called crane, they confirmed. I can't possibly sell this thing around here. only thing I could do is to lash out 250$ for another box and try to sell my current setup. if I had known that it wouldn't work, I would have left it off ... wasted perfectly good money that I should have invested elsewhere. too much money for that bit more adjustability

bummed ....

That's the kind of luck I often have. If there is an odd ball part or piece of equipment I will surely have it, unless it's a one of a kind priceless item and I will have the mass majority worthless kind. LOL

That old domino effect is alive and kicking. That sucks big time.

That was probably one of the earlier boxes that was designed to work with stock type ignition systems and not aftermarket magnetic or optical pickups. All of them they make now have the mag/opt connection in them.

well it's my fault. I could have just downloaded the wiring diagram of the new distributor before buying and check it thouroughly against my box. did not do such a thing. but ya, I clearly pulled the oddball
