Question 351/427 stroker kits, Issues with?

Are there any reliability issues or long term problems with the 427 stroker kits for the 351w as a Daily driver, at the 400-450rwhp mark, with A/C, some track duty and no P/A.

I know the 408 is a good setup for 400rw and DD but I can't help but be smitten with the idea of 427.

i have a 408 and happy with it but if i had the time again, i'd have gone 427. The kits werent as readily available and were a lot more expensive at the time (over here anyway).

my understanding is they've pretty much fixed the oil ring issues of early kits but none of the strokers like to rev as hard as a non-stroker all else being equal.

what car are you doing this for?

The 427 or even the 408 would lend itself better to hauling around a really heavy car. The other situation that would make it work for you depends on your driving style. The low RPM stump pulling torque of one of these combinations makes a car fun to drive IF you are not one to spin it to high RPM regularly. If your driving style is more like "when in doubt, wind it out" then a shorter stroke, higher RPM engine would serve you better.

Low and mid range torque make a car fun to drive, while high RPM horsepower wins races. If you're the wind it out driver, then a nicely cammed up 351 with the right heads, headers and gears to go with it would suit you better.
