Default AOD

i am looking at upgrading my c4 to an AOD nwo that I have changed the diff gears. Being in Australia I have to import so I want to get it right. I have a conversion kit just need the AOD unit. I want one where I don't have to modify the tunnel. Would the one below be suitable.

I will get it here and get a decent stallie and get it tricked up a bit, just want a decent uinit to start with. If this is not suitable does anyone have recommendations for a supplier?

I have the AOD in my 69 and the vent tube is up close to the tunnel.
Whenever I do a search for AODs this what I come up with.

Bump.
Is there anyone out there who has issues with transmissioncenter or PATC, they seem to advertise on the net real hard. Word of mouth is the best indicator though.

I put in a AOD without any trouble, no space issues at all,
I put 3.89 gears and a true locker 9" rear end
B&M AOD shift kit

I would of put a new converter in next time, my trans and Conv. came out of a 89 Crown Vic. so the shifter was pointing up so it was easy
It still shifts to soon so I loose the RPMs will be working on that as soon as I get home from Iraq this month.

Looking for new cam

Got my tax cheque back and made a decision to go gear vendors and it leaves the US in two weeks. I did some sumbs and by the time I ship a worked AOD down under with all the bits and pieces, then change my exhaust/headers etc it was not that much dearer. Only have to shorten the drive shaft and I know my C4 will survive. 6 gears instead of 4, yahoo. Has anyone on this site got one on their car.

I just installed an AOD in my '67 convertible. I used the conversion kit sold by PATC.

Make sure to test fit the transmission mount cross member to the car.
I installed my engine and transmission together one evening after work. Motor mounts bolted right up. Then I crawled under the car and tried to install the cross member. The holes wouldn't line up. Of course it was one night after work that I decided to do this, so it was about 9:30 at night and dark, and I had to quit for the evening. I had to let the transmission hang there for a couple days until I could drill new holes and elongate the slots in the cross member.

The kit doesn't come with transmission lines. I found some through Mustangs Plus. Pre-bent lines made for an AOD into a classic Mustang. $50. They were about 4 inches too long - stuck out past the radiator. I had to cut the lines somewhere in the middle, remove the extra length, and use some pressure fittings to bolt them back together. If you're good at bending transmission lines, you might want to make your own.

The Lokar TV cable comes pre-assembled. You'll have to take it apart to (a) mount the cable at the transmission and have the bracket pointing in the right direction and (b) cut it to the correct length.

The kit also includes a gear selector arm to be installed on your AOD. I didn't particularly want to open up my transmission and replace my selector arm. So I decided not to use it. Bad idea. The "throw" of the gear shifter (in the car) doesn't match the short lever on the AOD. By the time I shifted to "N", the transmission was already in OD or 3rd. I had to go back and install that arm with the transmission already in the car - not fun. If you have an aftermarket shifter, this may not apply.
