Power steering valve pin

Power steering valve pin
Just about done replacing the steering, just have to tighten all the bolts. Before I do though, there is supposed to be a pin that goes through a slot in the power steering control valve and into the center link ('70). I didn't see the old one and I can't find it if it fell out when I took everything out. What kind of pin goes in there and what if I don't put one in? There is a collar that clamps the sleeve to the center link, I doubt Ford would put the pin in if it wasn't necessary but you never know.

Yes it has roll pin driven into the centerlink.
The very bottom of the centerlink, through that slot, you insert 1/8" X 1/2" Hard steel roll pin.
If you don't see a hole, the old one is broken off flush with the surface, at any rate, a little bit of scratching you will see where it goes.
Redrill if necessary, which can be a Failure as the hard steel pin in there takes a very good bit to drill.
Many times we simply sink a new hole along side the old hole, much easier, drive in the pin.
This pin is a must, as the control has to remain constant, not rotate back and forth on the centerlink. You can clamp the clamp to collapse, it will still move without the roll pin.
One last thing, ALL 67-70 Mustangs had this roll pin, No exceptions.
