Default 1967 - ELEANOR PROJECT

Hey guys, how is it going?

I live in Brazil, and I'm building an 1967 Fastback Mustang (eleanor)

I've already bought the fiberglass eleanor body kit.

I'm now thinking about the engine.

I'll be in the US by november, so I will buy most of the engine parts in US.

I bought this Mustang without engine and trans.

So, the 302ci Block, I will buy in Brazil, I know a guy that import blocks (not aftermarket) from US.

I'm thinking to buy the following parts for the engine:

Airflow Research 1452 - AFR 205cc SBF Outlaw Race Heads

( Airflow Research 1452 - AFR 205cc SBF Outlaw Race Heads - Overview - SummitRacing.com )

Probe Industries PRO STREET Engine Kit - Ford 347 Dome Top +9.0cc
( 10480-PS-F347 - Ford 347 Dome Top +9.0cc Pro Street Engine Kit )

Crane Cams 449761 - Crane PowerMax Camshafts (not sure of it)

Nitrous Oxide system (100 - 200hp shot, I didn't decide which brand I will choose)

Parts that I didn't decided yet (I appreciate if you guys help me on these ones):

Carburetor / Fuel delivery system

Ignition System

Application of the project:

Street (in working days) and drag race (in weekends) hehehehe

Horsepower that i want to reach something between 300-500hp (without nitrous).

Feel free to give your opnion about it!

PS:

In Brazil we can use Ethanol (is cheaper than gas, and in most of the cars we have 4+hp when runned on eth) in our vehicles, 98% of the gas stations offer Ethanol, but using Ethanol I will have to chose an specific kind of carburetor and probably another kind of piston (Ethanol has a different compression ratio).

Which kind of gas do you guys think that I should use?

Many thanks, and best regards!

OR, here is an option... you could NOT bastardize another classic Mustang with the crummy eleanor kit...

Eleanor Mustangs are not my style but that does not mean that I do not appreciate a well built car. If that is really what you want I say do it. I'm sure most people would not like my Mustang build, but as long as I like it that is all that really matters.

I would really consider looking at all of your options on heads and cams. Give this guy a try, he puts together some great packages. www.camshaftinnovations.com

EDIT: Also noticed you did not mention a transmission.

i'd say a 205runner head is wayyy to big for a 302. would rather go for 165cc. but nor sure about nitrous (what runner size). i'd clearly talk to an engine builder for putting the components together

Jay Allen is Camshaft innovations and he helped me put together my engine package. I did not spend any more using him than if I would have purchased the parts elsewhere. He put the package together for me and did not pressure me to buy parts from him. I did buy the cam, heads, lifter and timing set from him. It was a great experience and when you are done you will have the confidence your engine is solid.

If you are looking for that much power you should consider (before you split a stock block in half and destroy all your parts) an aftermarket block. I used the new Boss block. Dart was my second option if I did not get such a smoking deal on my boss.

Good luck with your build, I'll be looking forward to seeing pics. It's always nice to see foreigners enjoying some American Muscle! Oh and for what it's worth, I think Eleanor's awesome

I second NoReins! I just picked up the E kit for my 67 fb. No matter what people say, you can't disagree that a well built Eleanor is bad a$$!!

There's really no need to be rude here....especially after he already bought the Eleanor kit.

The guy wants advice on his project.

He obviously likes the Eleanor look.

It's his car...he can do anything he wants with his ride...I respect what he likes (whether I like Eleanor or not, that's irrelevant, and a moot point)...I think you should do to...really...there's no need for this kinda ambush.

I think you should admire the fact that a Brazilian has much love for American classics...and that's what the whole Mustang hobby is all about.
