Default 351w GUYS.

what kind of intake are you running?

Im about to put in a 94 351w in my 1970 ( i found out its a boat motor block) with tho's gt heads. I just bought a performer intake. The carb I have is a holly 650 if that helps. but the problem is i just dont see how its all going to fit under the hood. bc the 302 i just pulled out left a dent in the hood where the wing nut was.

Is for some reason this "industrial" block taller?

351s will be a little bit taller than 302s because of the taller deck. They have a slightly taller deck and therefore your intake will end up a little bit higher.

A drop base air filter will free up some room...

dropped motor mounts, and dropped base air cleaner as mentioned is a good start.

I'm running a 351W with a Edelbrock Performer RPM intake in a 67. The previous owner had a Torker II intake which seemed to be a bit taller.

I recently when through the exercise of changing out my air cleaner assembly, as I felt the small Ford Racing 1.5" tall assembly "may" have been restricting air intake. Although I STILL love the look of it!! After fitting a drop base K&N Extreme assembly, I sent it back and ended up buying a similar style assembly from AMSOIL.

Part#EAAR2102

It fits perfectly, matches my blue spark plug wires, and leaves 3/4 to 1" hood clearance.

you 100% shouldn't have to cut out the hood or use drop mounts when using a performer intake.

i was able to fit a victor even with the added required clearance of a shaker.

JMD has a 408 (351W) with tall intake and didn't have to modify the hood as far as I know in a 65. same with dodgestang. 351W shouldn't be much of a problem in a 70s stang
