JMD has a 408 (351W) with tall intake and didn't have to modify the hood as far as I know in a 65. same with dodgestang. 351W shouldn't be much of a problem in a 70s stang
We were running a 351 with an RPM Air Gap and a Barry Grant Mighty Daemon, it fit under the hood with a very low pro air cleaner, but there is no room for an air cleaner with a carb with a chioke....
IMO the air gap is a great manifold for all around good performance and great drivability. It should fit under the hood of a 69-70.
project got put on hold untill after the weekend, I dident realize the 302 oil pan whouldnt fit the 351. the main bolts were just a little too wide. so im waiting on the ups guy. "I hate not finishing something once i get into it"
update: The oil pan came in and ended up getting the whole thing under the hood!! just a few bugs to work out. but im very pleased with the whole outcome. drove it with open headers all the way to the muffler shop screamin. wish i could have left it that way for a wile sounded like a monster going down the highway. but all good things must come to an end.. For more good things! ran 2 1/2 duel exhaust, flow master 40's and an H pipe, sounds great!!
nope just needed the right oil pan to put the engine in the car. The Intake was too high. So i got a shorter one and that did the trick. It all fits nice and snug under the hood
