Default Holly Electric Choke

I just a bought a holly carburetor with an electric choke. Has anyone else installed one of these? Where is a good place to connect the red 20 volt wire?

It's 12 volts, and you can connect it to a circuit that gets power when the key is turned to the "ON" position. If I remember correctly, the terminal post on the starter relay closest to the starter cable would be a good place to connect it.

And FWIW, triple check that your 12V + source is ONLY hot when the key is ON, use a voltmeter or test light, but just make sure. That choke coil can drain your battery down to zero if left 'always on' and obviously the choke wouldn't work then either !!

A good place to connect the choke wire is the stator connection on the back of your alternator. That way the wire is hot only when the engine is turning. If you were to leaver your key in the on postition too long before starting the choke would have opened and cold starting might be a problem.

the correct way is the stator (as above). some people use coil+, but thatr's only ok if you have bypassed the resistor wire. make sure you have full 12V there. anywhere on starter relay is wrong, unless you have the resistor wire bypassed, the 'I' terminal of starter relay wired to coil+, which then effectively is the same as coil+
