Need some headliner tips
tip #1.......beer, lots of it.
tip #2...... use the search, I know someone on here did a write up last year on the headliner with LOTS of pictures. What helped me was about 30 small clamps from harbor freight. They cost me about 30 cents each. Its a very hard job, to do it right, you must pull your front and rear window out to get the headliner flush under the gaskets.

I did mine myself and had read all the horror stories of people trying it for the first time. I did not have any of the problems other have listed and it still looks tight and wrinkle free. (it was my first time attempting it).
A couple thing I credit for not having headaches putting it in. First, I took about a week to do it. For example, I glued up the top of the rear window, clamped it all along the top and waited till the next day when the glue was good and dry before going on to the next section. I did this because I had a problem with it pulling the glue up if I pulled to hard in a different area.
The next tip, the clamps.. I had bunching between clamps or it was not holding between clamps. Not enough clamps to hold every inch to prevent this... Well if you are replacing the windlace at the same time, you have as many CUSTOM clamps as you need! Use some tin snips and cut pieces between 1-6 inches long. Squeeze the old windlace closed before re-installing it over the edges of the headliner/car edges. It will clamp and hold ever inch of the headliner in place during your install. Just make sure the glue is dry before removing it and installing the new windlace (except windows) This was the most helpful part of the install, held tight in and made the turns better than any type of clamp would have. Can't believe no one ever tried this one or posted it before. The windlace also allows you to install it completely without glue to check your alignment and see if you are going to have any problems before you glue it.
Last hint, don't be afraid to pull up an area that has been glued, just be sure to apply new glue to both surfaces before re-attaching it.
Hope you find some of these useful. Don't rush it and be sure to have some help at least some of the install and you should have no problems.

Hey everyone, didn't want to start a new thread, so just found one I could add to.
I have found someone with some GT's and parts and he has some headliners for hatchback GT's. The only thing is, he says he doesn't have one for a sunroof and that's what I need and I would have to cut a hole in it..
Is this feasible? I didn't know if it would be the same or do they do something different to the edges so it won't come apart when you buy one specifically for that... I figured that what I could do is just leave plenty of fabric left over to tuck behind that way it wouldn't come out.
I can get a headliner from him for $40, so if it will work I definitely want to do it..... A lot of people I know buy all new parts and I am not afraid to buy used but good parts because that frees up more $$$ for other things.
