But the deal is, you average state trooper is not going to pull you over and then grab a magnet out of his pocket and check if you plate is the real deal. As long as your vin matches with your registration and you plate numbers are properly registered with the dmv there wont be any problems. With me, I had blue california plates and just had the numbers put on the classic black plate. I have never had any problems (I even run with a tag from 1967) Most officers pass and just smile and never look twice, but then again my vehicle is not a DD.

Great technique, nice job.

I did a set of '38 Mass plates once by painting the background and then brushing the numbers. I finally got it right, but what a pain in the ***. Your way is the way to do it, and I will pass it on.

Plastic plates? LAME! It seems there will constantly be people with broken ones, especially trucks.

Fantastic job on the plate! I've done a few, but never that nice. Good work.

Here are couple more I did this week, for my '70 Mach I and my '74 Bronco. Here in Texas the 1969 and up plates have to be reflective. I used a metallic white with a pearl on top, and they came out pretty awesome:

Ny allows YOM plates. but only requires the plates be legible. they only allowed repainted plates effective in 2009 .

Utah allows them as well but I don't know the legalities aily driver verses parade and shows. That was a great tip. Thanks for sharing
