Default Help with engine identification

Just bought this 1965(64 1/2) coupe and I need to do a tune up but not sure of the engine to get the right stuff. The car originally had a 260 but it has been changed, maybe 302?, but I'm trying to determine what it is and a possible date. It has the big spark plugs. Is there a way to tell by looking without having the numbers? I'm not sure that I can get to the numbers to identify the block.

OK, there's no such thing as a "260 High Performance".

Most of what we see is aftermaket parts, so that's no help. It could be a 260, 289, or 302.

The best thing is to remove the starter and rad the numbers on the block.

Almost as good would be a nice, clear photo of the harmonic balancer.

It's a 70 or later 302.

Looks like you need one of these:
