Default Gas Tank

Okay so I am in the process of rebuilding my 67. The question is I still have gas in the tank and it's a brand new tank. I don't want to have to drain the gas from the tank, so is there some sort of additive I should add to the tank?

How long you planning on letting it sit? The newer gas is crap and doesn't store well, even with the newer stabilizers that are supposed to be for ethenol blends. If its going to more than 4 - 6 months I'd drain it. It just not worth putting crap through the motor.

It will more than likely sit for at least a year. Do you think I can just drain the tank in a year before I run a new engine? Right now as the car sits there is no engine at all. What do you think about using Sta-Bil Fuel Stabilizer?

I'm just worried about draining the gas and where to dispose of it.

Drain it and run it in something else. I use stabil in my boat all the time but I still drain the tanks, all 300 gallons, during the winter and run it in my truck. If you don't have another car give it to your neighbor, even if you do it 5 gallons at a time.

If you're doing a new motor its not worth the risk especially if you're building a high compression motor.

Point well taken! I am going to drain it this weekend and put in my wife's Honda Pilot.

Thanks!

Definitely drain it. Hopefully your new tank has a drain plug.
