Unhappy Engine won't move...backwards!

This question may not be what you are expecting from the title. I had a local shop install my engine and transmission into my 65 mustang (302 block...tremec manual transmission). Now I've discovered that I can't fit my radiator and electric fan into the car. There simply isn't enough room, let alone allow for a 1 inch gap between the pulley and the fan. I used the Ron Morris adjustable motor mounts when the engine when in.

Now I'm trying to move the engine/transmission back 1 - 1.5 inches. It looks like there is room to slide back on the transmission mount. The engine mount has tons of room. I think the transmission tunnel has room. The only problem is I can't get the engine to budge after loosing the engine and transmission mounts.

Does anyone have any ideas apart from using a cherry picker and yanking the whole thing out? If I have to use an engine hoist, then I'll need to take it back to the shop that installed it (which means tow and shop labor $$$$).

Thanks

well its about 700-800 pounds its not gonna move very easy...id suggest using an A frame or a cherry picker to get some of the weight off the mounts so you can move it around...you can rent cherry pickers from places like rent-all for a few $ it wont need to come all the way out just loosen and lift...also id remove the driveshaft(do you even have enough play room to move the placement back or will you need a new driveshaft?

you're trying to move a few hundred pounds, try a floor jack from the front of the car. lift the engine just enough to get the weight off the mounts, then roll it back and set it back down. you might need a extra floor jack for the tranny. don't use a crackerjack floor jack, make sure you have a good stable base.

Good suggestions so far. I haven't ordered the drive shaft for the new combo yet...so I should be in good shape there. I tried placing a floor jack under the engine and lifting a little. This didn't seem to help. Maybe I need to focus the lifting upon the tranny.

Is the bottom part of the transmission isolator rubber (the point where the transmission rests on the transmission mount)? If so, I wonder if that thing is acting like a brake and preventing movement? I'm starting to think that elevating the transmission is as important as elevating the engine.

Might be hitting the pan on the backside at the crossmember. Easier it sounds like to get a new fan. Just did a 17in thick as hell on a stock style radiator. Something should fit to avoid that hassle.

I'm really not into the pusher fan look. I'm trying to keep stock. The fan I'm planning to use is a thin SPAL 16". Even with the thinnest fan I see on the web, I'm not going to have room.

The oil pan has a lot of room behind it. It looks like there is PLENTY of room behind the bell housing. I've cut the area behind the shifter to give me room.

What else could I be missing. I might try to lift the transmission 1" up and then use a power puller on the transmission studs (that attach to the transmission to the mount) to see if I can get it to move.

Man...What some guys won't do to gain an inch.

My guess is that they have your RMP mounts backward, left mount on the right and right mount on the left, We tried to do this for a just a moment on my sons Falcon, it was painfully obvious that it was WRONG so we didn't get to far along..... (this moves the engine about 4" to the front...)

If your shop did this, and then went on to install the tranny, etc, they are not too bright....

This is what I was able to fit even with an AC unit. It was that thick the entire round section of the fan, not just the motor, and the rest is skinny like most. Just an idea of what you "should" be able to fit.
