Default Wipers park straight up!

Hi,

I have my 73 coupe all nicely restored now. I try to drive it about 10 miles every couple weeks to keep things lubed and happy.

Today something really weird happened. When I turned the car on, the wipers decided that they were not in the proper park position and rotated so that they stick straight up the windshield. I fiddled with the **** a bit, but to no avail. The "new" park position is straight up.

I haven't touched the wipers in several years. So, I'm not sure what has happened.

My guess is a slipped gear or a bad electrical contact.

Can someone point me in the right direction? Is it the switch, or something in the motor assembly?

Thanks,

John

Sounds awful. Gotta be something electrical. Do they still work fine?
The motor might be on its last leg. I've seen a few that keep functioning but act weird. Buddy of mine's Porsche 914 had one head light that would pop up twice when you hit the switch, looked real funny.

They work. They just return to the upright position when turned off. I've never seen anything like it before.

The wiper motor has a micro switch inside it that controls the parking of the wipers. Change the wiper motor out and you should be good to go.
