Smile 70 Mach 1 351

Hi, I am new to this forum,
I am buying a 1970 Mustang Mach 1 351cu in a couple of weeks.

Just need to know a couple of things first.

I can not seem to adjust the steering tilt, Did all Mach 1 models come with adjustable tilt steering wheel.

and also what is the original size for the wheels, are they 15x8 ?

thanks

Tilt steerting was an option that is rarely found on 70 Mach's. Show us a picture of the wheel and we can help you with sizing.

There was an option called tilt away steering, which allowed you to get in and out easier. My cousins 69 has it.
Back then, 14" wheels was common and 15" was another option.
Do you know which 351 it has?

The tilt-away was often seen on well-optioned 67's, and continued through 69, although it decreased. It changed in 70, and was even less popular. It was never a part of any model, mach1 or otherwise.

The 70 mach1 came standard with plain steel 14x7 wheels, with mag-style wheelcovers so realistic they usually have one of the fake lug nuts broken off by some mechanic who thought they were real. There was also an optional 5-slot styled wheel. This is the wheelcover:

Hi, The steering wheel on mine seem very low, Nearly on my knees when i am sitting in the seat. Is they any way of adjusting it?

I also have a 78 trans am and that has a lever on the side of the steering column to adjust the steering front column up or down.

A tilt column is kinda rare on a mustang not a lot had them.If your car don't have one you can buy one or use a smaller steering wheel.

Tilt steering wheels are moderately rare on these cars. I wanna put one into my 70, probably will about the same time as I put in my AOD and lower my seat risers this winter.

As for wheels, I have Magnum 500s on mine. 15x7 in front and 15x8s in rear. I like the look. BFG Radial T/As look bitchin, but won't hook and are borderline useless once they get wet, but they're classic muscle look.
