has anyone used petrnoix electronic ignition? im thinking of doing away with points and using the petrnoix system

 

good idea, worth the money.

will it work with a untouched orginal engine? i heard it works great n v8s but never in a i6

 

I have been using OEM distributors w/ Pertronix ignitions in two SBF engines for over 10 years w/ zero problems. Have accidentally left ignition on overnight and did not cause a problem.

 

I redid my motor last year...almost a year ago to the day.

I've been running a stock distributor with the Pertronix since then and I've never had any issues.

 

+1 Mine is in an OEM distrib no problems in the past 3+ years! Much better than my old mallory distributor

 

I've installed it in six cylinder cars. Eliminates the need to adjust points. And the Pertronix I was intended for original, untouched engines.

ya. well spoken. the ignitor is intended to replace stock points. so the more original the better. that goes for their replacement (the ignitor module)

If you use the billet distributor from them. there are two types. One looks like a stoick distributor and uses external coil. The other looks like the one in "tcrote5516" picture. It's the HEI model where the coil is in the cap. This results in a huge cap and most aftermarket air cleaner systems (including stock) will not fit.
I think the only reason he can fit his is because of teh tall aftermarket intake manifold and maybe added spacer under air cleaner

That's somethig to keep in mind.
