Question Electronic Flasher Problem

I have the Scott Drake sequential tail lights on my 65. Last night an odd problem started with the variable rate electronic flasher module. When the car is running it clicks like the turn signals are on when they are off. They work though. What could be causing this? Maybe a bad ground? The weird part is that when the key is on it doesn't do it, but once the engine is running it starts clicking.

If it's clicking then current is passing through it.

Should be no current when lights are in off.

Double check that nothing else is in the flasher circuit.

How does the box hook up?

Meaning, where do the wires hook to, and where is the box located in your car?

It connects to the 2 stock flasher wires and has its own ground wire. I have it mounted with zip ties near the stock location on the back of the fresh air vent.

When it is clicking I would use stethoscope to verify it's coming from flasher.
Use volt meter to verify no voltage from red and yellow wire to ground.

Thats a good idea. I'm going to check into it more in the next few days.

I did have my head right next to the fresh air vent and the sound is coming from it or behind it. The only thing there is the flasher. I'm 95% sure its what is clicking.

I'm starting to think the same thing. I just don't see what the problem could be.

Its weird though, because I can not recreate the problem with just the key on. The car has to be running.

Did you check voltage from red and yellow wire to ground?

Other things can cause a similar sound when engine is running.

A leaky plug wire can cause similar sound at idle.

Does the frequency vary w/ rpm or speed?
