Default courtesy light problems

Hey everyone, I have a '66 mustang coupe 289 V8 2 barrel with original pony interior. I need some help. I've had this car for over a year now and I've never really noticed any electrical problems until now. My courtesy door lights on my car don't work. I must be really stupid, but ive noticed the past few weeks that they don't work and I don't know why. I've checked all the fuses, all great. Check the bulbs, all brand new bulbs. Check the wiring on the door switches and they are hooked up. Does anyone know what it could be? I really don't wanna rip off part of my car just to get at something if i don't have too. Are the courtesy lights for the floor attached to the same circuit as the door lights? Do I need more power going to my car? Help me out here![sm=dontgetit.gif]

it could be a number of things, you mostly eliminated most of them. DO they turn on using the light Switch?

no, they don't, but i would think they would hook up to the door switch, im thinking somewhere there is a bad connection or a bad/old wire, but im praying that there isnt

yeah, thats what it sounds like. unless the DOME fuse is blown, then the wiring must be chopped or cut somewhere.

i dont think so. I think mine is missing, but even if it's not, it wouldn't haven't anything to do with it, unless the wire is grounded and has blown the fuse.

You prolly already checked it but I would make sure that the light is grounded good. Make sure it is a nice clean surface it is mounting in.

Thanks for all your help. As it is, I found a light diagram and found out i had a loose ground, which wasn't the real problem but helped, and that I had two shorts in my passenger door. Both wires had a cut in them and were against the metal on my door. I taped them up, put in a new fuse, and all my lights worked. Its a miracle. Again, thanks for you help.

This brings back bad memories.[:@] My dash lights didnt work and I had to fix 3 different problems to get them to work. All is good now. I like the color of your car. I wish my car didnt have a red interior my options are very limited as to what color i can paint it.
