Default 73 Mach One Issues

My "new" 73 Mach One is giving me fits! The solenoid was toast, so I bought a new one and a new battery cable (to the post). Recharged the battery, went to start and NOTHING! I mean not even a click! Anyone have any thoughts? A buddy is coming to look at it, but would like to learn all I can. I think it maybe the starter wire, leading off the solenoid, but need extra hands to make sure it's getting 12volts. Am I wrong that if the wire isn't perfect, I should still get some type of response when I turn the key? Glad its raining today, I don't feel horrible about not being able to drive. Also - any suggestions on buying window and trunk weather stripping? (Best source!)
Thanks
Jamie

How about the cables to the starter and ground?
