66 coupe
no i dont, the interior is very ugly as it sits. It was originally all 66 red, i put in new carpet and a dash pad, also a grant steering wheel and a humphugger center console. I also put in a new gauge bezel and a tach that was originally chrome, i took it apart and painted the back section of it black and left the face of it chrome, i also put made it to where the light inside is green. apparently if you want a green light, you put on a blue light bulb cover which took me a while to figure out. I painted the inside of my doors satin black and havent put on new door panels since although they're cheap. my headliner was crusty and the bill of my friends hat tore through it so i ripped it out along with the insulation and put sprayed rubberized undercoating to help deaden the sound. also, there's a lot of overspray on everything i jus havent got around to cleaning it.
I bought a very nice leather racing seat that cost me 250 bucks but it looked stupid without the passenger seat being the same... and i didnt want to drop the much again until i come up on money.
i have a somewhat nice stereo system, my dad told me to never cut the dash so instead of a deck i have two amps; one for the sub and one for the speakers and then an aux cord that runs under the carpet right to the drivers seat where i can plug in my mp3 player or walkman. i cut out a piece of particle board that fits the shape of my back seat, then i cut some holes in it and zip tied it to those spring looking things inside the seat and painted the particle board gray and mounted my amps on that. although it looks cool, the seat is now non-removable unless i take out the screws that hold the amps.
my trunk and interior will be finished before jan of next year.
I jus took pics of my interior and trunk to show you wat i'm up against. The outside and engine were much more shabby than this when i started, so i know for sure that i can things around to make it look new again.

I started the interior back before i worked at the mustang shop, so i had no idea what the hell i was doing. If you can't tell, the carpet is a total shame... I cut it too short, and there are cigarette burns and stains from when i stopped caring. in the post above this there is more info on the pictures.

Where is your spare tire, is that it under that cover? Why not put it back on the other side where the retainer is?
What are your plans for the interior now?
I like that tach. I did something similar but found one that looks like it goes with the 65 speedo better.
I wish my dash wasn't already hacked up. Oh well. I may repair it some day and get a retro style radio.
I have a hump hugger console too. I wish I would have had it back in high school.

oooo fancy, your interior is nice. I wanted to go with black but it seems like everyone does that... plus i live in arizona, black is a bad color in the summer time. but very nice.
Idk where my spare is when my dad moved away he musta took it because i had all the original wheels still. that's the cover for the tire, but there's actually jus tools in that bag.
that tach is nice, is that a rally pac? it looks exactly like the one that comes with the rally pac.
all my interior needs is some new red upholstery, new red door panels, new carpet, and a headliner and it will look fresh. oh yeah and maybe some of those nice seatbelts, some floormats and some new armrests. the entire dash area is in great condition... i guess i jus named everything besides the dash hahaha.

oh yeah, and the humphugger is deff something worth investing in. The day i got my car, that was the VERY first thing i bought! I'd say too bad you didn't have one in high school, they do come in handy. have you seen the cruiser console? those are not bad, i think they're for automatics only tho
Yeah just some work on the interior and you should be good to go. You named just about everything you need, which is everything other than the dash.
But really it's close to looking great! Just some interior work.

hell yea thank you!
after lookin at these pics for a bit, i was very bothered by the fact that i had no door panels.. so i put the old ones on. I took some steel wool and scraped off the crusty chrome trim so atleast they didnt look like total trash. after some armor all and a little tlc this interior actually looks better than most 66's i've seen. It was shame having somewhat of a nice exterior, then i get in and see trash.

Nice Job. Me and my Dad started restoring a 65 Coupe when I was 14 and had it ready for when I turned 16, that one entailed a new motor, transmission, paint and interior. I know it can be A LOT of work but you will treat the car better and have a greater respect for it when you do the work yourself. Not to mention the pride I'm sure you already feel when you drive it. And you can bet the Mustang fever will be with you for life. I'm turning 30 and finally bought another 65 Coupe to enjoy, although with how busy work is I bought this one already restored. Thanks for sharing your story and best of luck.

Not gonna lie, your kid may mess up once or twice... It happens, you were his age once, nobody is perfect. The biggest thing is being prepared for his reaction when you tell him either the car is going to be taken away for a while/ or he's gonna have to pay for the repairs himself. He's going to think your the biggest ******* in the world and is probably gonna tell you to go f.u.c.k. yourself. You're probably gonna chase him to the front yard trying to beat his butt and then he's gonna say "you're not my dad f.u.c.k. you" then get in his brothers car and drive off. or atleast that's what happened to me. My dad is a big effin guy honestly I learned a couple things from that last accident.... A)dont treat your car like **** B)Don't tell your dad to go f.u.ck himself because he will try and kick your @ss C) Dont tell your dad he's not your dad even if he adopted you because that's a big punch to the face and can really hurt someone's feelings, you'll jus end up regretting saying that.
