It might look better but it would need to be about a half inch to an inch thick, depending on how big the gap is.

At least that's what I take from the picture the OP provided.

Well hmm..? The drawing he made, with the blue square would work too. I think. But if I understand you right, you suggest a patch added to the underside without removing any metal from the inside existing floor? I don't like that because it would create a hollow pocket. A double walled area just waiting to rust.
If he does it either as I suggested or as the blue square drawing, and butt welds it in. There would be no visable seam. Only the weld seam, which if done half decent, won't be noticable after paint etc. Also, if you make a patch under the floor your going to be doing some shaping. With the other two options your just bending the metal down, no shaping at all.

I know this isn' the best way to go about this, but it definitely was the quickest and easiest. I basically hammered that area from multiple angles until it made a connection to the rail. Then I plug welded it and then a little more from the back side.

but the floor is done for the most part

Question. The original pan had these 2 hooks in the rear bench seat area. I can't remember if this is necessary to install the seats because my new floor doesn't have this

Yes they need to be there for the seat. You will need to weld them on the new floor because they don't come attached.

hmm...Wish I could of come over there for about an hour or so. I think that could of been stretched, layed flat and the floor look factory. I just couldn't explain it good enough. But, what's done is done. And what you did there will work just fine.

Keep the updates coming. It's progressing nicely.

Funny how similar issues come up again and again.

Thanks bent metal, for now this online help will have to do

Does anyone know what those 2 hooks are called? I couldn't find reference of it in my shop manual. I'm guessing I can cut those off the original and reuse it?

I don't know the name. I think they're like rear seat brackets or something.
They're reproduced and only about $3 a piece. But if you cut 'em out well, they're as good as the repros.

Hope I got this right. The originals were 14.5" away from the edge. I salvaged the original ones, weld and painted it.
