Default parking break problem

I have a 68 coupe drum rears, parking break never worked so when i put on new shoes I made sure everything was hooked up, crawled under made sure everything was there and connected. it was. figured the cable up front was bad or over stretched so i replaced it (the one that runs from the inside to the connector under the car). Still nothing. Its driving me crazy. I alwas leave my car in gear so i am not to worried about it just want it to work just encase.

Thanks
Mort

Is the leverage bar on backwards or upside down? Pretty common mistake.

Could just need to be adjusted. Screw in the adjuster until the handle only comes out 6-10 clicks.

Found out the problem...... i adjusted the park break now the lever would not return......hummmmm Did some investigating and turned out my lovely friends at Sacramento - mustang sold me the wrong cable. Called them and they insisted it was correct, i gave them the right part number and said i was right but the part number could have changed. FRICKING IDIOTS! pulled out the old one turned out it was just caked with gunk, cleaned it up and reinstalled it no no problems. Lesson dont go to Sacramento mustang!
