OK so crank pulley gives me a ~ -3d reading. So Ill set the pinion at 3 degrees pointing up and see how it runs. right now its set at about 1 up

ya, angles over a pivot are the same. in theory the pinion should be the same angle as your crank pulley. so both of them pointing up 3 degrees to the front. never thought about measuring crank pulley.

cool that should do it!

If it still vibrates after this and you are sure your trans angle is ~ -3 and your pinion angle is ~ +3 spend your time searching for other causes.

i ordered a driveshaft yesterday. I asked the fella in the UK. He said they're more expensive and in his car there was no imrpovement whatsoever on the quartermile. So I just trusted him and went with steel.

vibrations any better?

ya. wanted to :-) just because it looks smashing. but ordering, waiting 3 weeks, then shipping. Lads in the UK are making me one delivered to door for 300$ (190pounds) and i'll have it before christmas. no duty/tax anything. tempting ;-) It's U-joint to U-joint. will reuse my slipyoke. have that for only a year and with a new one the price would have gone up.
Dennys would ahve been 300$ for the shaft, at least 80$ for delivery, then add about 33% for duty and VAT, thats nearly 500$ again :-*

What is the situation if you run the rpms up in neutral? Because you seem to have pretty much changed or checked everything I'm wondering about crank pilot bushings or exhausts resonating.

if it's vibrating in neutral it's somewhere in front of driveshaft. gearbox, engine. Might as well be the trans or engine hitting the chasis somewhere. Only a _ever so slight_ rubbing or hitting of engine, gearbox on chassis will cause immense vibration. you won't believe it until you experience it
