Default rebuilding a 289

My Dad and I are planning on rebuilding his 289 some time soon. We're planning on some aluminum heads, and intake. WE want to put in a mechanical cam like in the Hipos. Do you need different push rods for the mechanical lifters? And does anybody have any advice to give, because we're unfamilar with rebuilding Ford engines. We usually are rebuilding chevys. Thanks

Hi,
I am planning a rebuild too and picked up a good book on the subject. I got it from NPD and it is titled "How to Rebuild Small Block Ford Engines".
Good luck!, Walt
