need help
so i just got my 73 mustang running and as i was driving it it just turned off not getting any spark. replaced coil, spark plugs and wires, condenser, distributer cap, starter solenoid, and still will not start. it turns over and acts like it wants to but just wont any ideas would b greatly appreciated
so its moving along under its own power and dies...
1) How did you come to the conclusion that it died from no spark?
2) You replace all the above stuff
3) It still wont start does that mean it still has no spark? Did you verify that it had no spark after replacing all the above? If you did verify that it had no spark how did you test to arrive to the conclusion that it indeed had no spark.

at first i didnt know why it died. the next day i took the wire from the coil and stuck it to metal and turned the key over no spark then i did the same with the spark plugs still no spark. so everything i have replaced and it still isnt sparking
I almost forgot...With at points car to test for coil power the points gap must be closed...so remove the dizzy cap and rotate the engine until the contacts touch then with the key on check to see if you have power...

ok so i took the cap off and the rotor didnt spin i took the distributer out and turned it over the cam moved fine the gear on the dizzy spun fine too when i put the dizzy back in and tryed again it still didnt move any ideas?
I suspected you might find that when you went to set the points closed.
Im guessing with the dizzy installed you can spin the rotor by hand..Check to see if you can rotate the rotor by hand with the dizzy installed.
I have a feeling that somehow both or one gear has worn to the point where it no longer meshes with the other...remember the cam has a gear on it as well might want to inspect it with a flashlight and see how it looks.

Humm well if it wont spin when installed then it would appear that dizzy shaft is secured to the gear and the rotor and the gear has meshed with the cam gear...If you cant spin it by hand IT SHOULD rotate when you crank the engine.
Is the dizzy installed in the car right now? You can not rotate the rotor by hand right? and when you crank it over you are sure the dizzy rotor does not spin? have you tried again?
