new distributor ?
Just a note, I have a 60 Falcon with a 144 that I am going to start work on someday.
At this point my intention is to bore out the block to fit the distributor shaft of the later centrifugal advance distributor, thereby expanding my future flexibility.
On the fordsix.com website, most have opted to either keep the loadmatic or to turn the distributor shaft down instead of boring out the block, but I want a more permanent fix, and I am not a fan of the loadmatic.

So what if it is the later engine but I have the earlier carb? What happens then lol? And good luck with the Falcon project. And I agree it's always good to have plenty of flexibility.
If you don't need the Spark Control Valve, then you just plug it and use manifold vacuum to plumb your distributor. The existence of the SCV will not affect anything. You will not have "ported vacuum", but you really don't need it anyway.
Thanks so much for all your help. It's tough because I am restomodding this car because I want to use it as a daily driver in the warmer months, so I have a lot of non stock stuff that's going into it and it's hard to know what will work with what. And the fact that from what I can see I do think the engine is a later engine from the code, which not sure why it happened but apparently did somewhere down the road. Anyway, thanks again for all your help.
