Well I went above the paint shop's head yesterday and went to the glass place myself, with the car. I showed the manager what the damages were and what my beef was (after the Monday install, the windshield is still leaking). He was cool about it and said he was a Mustang guy too (yay). He said they would pick up the repair bill for the paint and that he would personally install the new windshield (he wanted to get another one just in case this new one as slightly out of shape or...?). I went back to the paint shop and had them fax over an estimate to the tune of about $1,700. Now let's just see if the glass guy makes good on his promise... Wish me luck!

I'm sure stuff likes this happens all the time. It is very rare that someone steps up that easy. Good luck and we'll see what happens. This is a good sign and if he does step up, then he is a very good business owner and actually cares about his business. I guess I'm being over positive because I don't expect it to go that easy.

I would expect most owners to try and half-rear end it.

Good luck with that. Sounds like you're trying to get the whole car painted at his expense. Unnecessary and overboard. The guys I know could blend in that area and it'd look better than before the damage.

That sucks about the paint damage and lousy glass work. I dont see how it can cost 1700 dollars to fix it though. It seems to me it should not cost very much to repair the paint.

If he does pick up the tab as he promised, I bet the guy who installed it first is in line to get "let go".

I bet he won't pick up a $1,700 bill without going to court.

IMO $1,700 is way, way, way, out of line. That is an 8 hour job MAX including buffing, the materials will be way less than $100....

1700???? I wonder why they are trying to stick it to the windshield guys. If you know the owner ask him what the hell... They are trying to do whats right and then the paint shop tries to stick it to them.
