Default 70 heater core replacement

well i have to do this and like anything else it looks like its not going to be to easy. i have factory AC and from what ive read online it goes from being able to separate the box while being in the car, by popping the clips, to damn near having to take the whole upper and lower dash out. im looking for some one that has done it on a 70 with AC. figure they would know what im in store for.

Been there, tried that, you'll destroy the box trying to do it that way. Half the clips are on the front, between the heater and the firewall. No matter what you do, the dash has to come out. Follow the Ford Manual, and get it done.

The dash might not need to be fully removed, to avoid disturbing the wiring, just detach the dash and suspend the RH side.

when you say dash, your talking about the whole metal dash. the part that the glove box, radio and instrument cluster mounts to, right ? and it does all unbolt. the manual seems to just talk about the upper dash below the windshield.

Yeah, that upper part would be the dash pad. Not enough.

found another post where it shows it apart. the whole loser dash come out, so out comes the instrument cluster and AC/heater controls, radio and everything else in the dash. looks like more than a one day job to me.

I'd set aside a weekend.

I've done it by detaching the column from the dash and lowering it.
