Default Speedo Gear and tire size.

I need to replace my speedo/odometer cable and probably the gear as well. I just thought about it and wondered if I need a different (than stock) speedo gears since I have 14 inch tires (stock was 13)? Is there a different gear or cable for different tire sizes?
Would the speed/mileage really be too much different? Faster or slower/more or less miles than what is shown?
Thanks!

I believe that 14 inch wheels were stock. The real question is what size is the tire that your running now?

the original owners manual shows the 13 inch were standard, with the 14 and 15 inch were dealer options. Mine being a 170 cid, I am sure they came with the smallest.
What are on it now are the ansen sprint 14 inch rims with P205/70R14 tires. (205mm=8.07 inch so height would be 5.65 inches?)
I could be wrong about the tire sizes and my setup is fine, most aftermarket rims I see available are 14-15 inch. I just want to be sure to have everything correct on it.

To figure out what speedo gear you need now, you also need to know what rear ratio the rear axle is.

If the tires your running now are larger than stock, the speedometer should read slightly slower than actual.

Need tire outside diameter, rear ratio, # drive teeth on trans shaft to calculate # driven teeth on speedo gear.

NPD catalog normaly has the calculations and good selection of speedo gears.
