Default 8.8 rear axle conversion, little help needed.

I'm building an 8.8 rear axle in my project car, the 1970 coupe. I need to know which angle the axle has to have under the car. See picture 3. Other tips also welcome.

Thanks, Steffan

With the bottom of the leaf spring perch level, the pinion should point up 5 degrees. That is the factory setting.

you need to bolt it together with the wheels on and sitting on the ground with the wieght on the car and then set it. I set mine up 2* and it worked great.

You can bolt the whole thing together, but the method I described above is how I have installed leaf spring perches on hundreds of housings for Mustangs that I build in my shop.

Thanks, that is very helpfull. The car must be on all 4 wheels before i can start this? If so, then i need to put it on hold, cause i don't have the front suspension put together yet. I also need 2 of those angle finders.

Thanks again for the help, and i'll get back to you on this. Cause this is my first time and i don't want to f*** this up.

Ideally, you want to match the angle of the drivetrain. Varying too far from that angle can result in vibration issues.
