carb help (leans on easy accel) carter AFB / edelbrock
Okay so I got my ignition all straightened out and but im still having an issue with the carb I think. its a carter AFB 600.
It idles around 13 and curise is around 14.8 to 15.3 and WOT drops to around mid 11s or something near there.
Everything works fine except during a dead stop easy acceleration. I start to let the clutch out and apply slight power and a/f drops to 12s but as I start to let out more clutch and apply slightly more power a/f very quickly swings to very lean (17s) or dead lean 19+ at which point the car jerks like you just dumped the clutch and instantly after doing this a/f returns to normal 14s all other gears are fine in all situations.
If you keep revs high around 1300 and smoke a little clutch on the way out its no problem...If I shift normally with the choke pulled it works fine too but again rpms are around 1300 as high idle also comes on.
Engine idles at 750 rpm like it has forever
I check for vac leaks with carb cleaner at idle and didnt notice any.
I cleaned entire carb still have the same issue.
accel pump is fairly new (a year or so) and appears to **** quite well and is on maximum volume.
I tried the heaviest ( 8 Inhg )step up spring for the fuel rods as expected that didnt help.... it shouldn't even be entering the rich setting in this situation should it?
This issue has finally pissed me off
There really is no way to tune this thing any further is there?
I dont think its some bad shifting habit I picked up it seemed to work just dandy 3 months ago.
Any test ideas or suggestions welcomed.
