ok so i have a 1965 mustang coupe with the original 289 motor. the body is in pretty good shape. there are a few rust spots that i should have taken pictures of before they were replaced. but other than that the frame and underbody are good. the only panels that needed to be replaced are the bottom of both doors and the bottom of the rear quarter panal. these pictures are of what i have going on so far.

i know it looks like there is a bunch of bondo on the rear panel but there is still a lot of sanding to be done so dont worry. it should be ready for primer in the next couple days. if yall have any suggestions or ideas please feel free to comment.

I would align all body panels, doors, hood, and trunk.

oh yeah that is going to happen. there is still a little bit of body work that still needs to be done. and the doors and panels will be taken off to be primed and painted so that all the door jams and engine bay can be painted and not have over spray.

It is nice to paint doos etc. off car.

When I buy 1 gallon of base coat I have shop put it in 4 Quart cans.

Quart can is much easier to deal with and paint color will match always.

If in a gallon can the bottom of the barrel may not match.

Welcome! And definitely post progress pics as you go along. That way, advise is always available to help along the way. Good luck and I am looking forward to your restoration. There are a few outstanding restorations going on currently here. NoReins, bentmetal, mr.velocity, just to name a few.

yeah the guy my father in law got his paint from put each quart of paint in i think 2 quart containers that that mixing would be easy. im not sure if they were 2 quart but the containers were only about half full of paint.

and i hope i do a good job at documenting. i have done other projects and was going to take pics along the way. but for some reason i always get caught up in doing the project and dont ever think about pictures again.

Yes, pictures and posts as you go. If you wait a week or two you'll remember doing things in general, not in detail. I want to know the problems and fixes as you actually had to do them.

....Just my two cents...............
