I have around 30k saved up so I want to get the best out of it.
Im going to look at a car tomorrow and Ill take pictures post them. Id love your opinions. Are there any other sites besides for ebay, cars.com and craigslist that i can look for?
Thank you for all your help I appreciate it.

It'd be $100k to pay a shop to build a quality eleanor. There's more to an Eleanor than just the looks, the suspension and drivetrain completely outclass a standard mustang.

http://www.searchtempest.com/ is an easy way to search craiglist, I love it

Ebay and craigslist are your best choice to find them, maybe local magazine listing will turn up a cheap mustang, if you're really lucky.

30k will get you a NICE classic, just keep in mind the work it requires if you start with a 15k fastback with rust.... You will probably spend 10k on that fixing her up to be a driver or better.

Just decide whether you wanna do the work yourself. There's no real "class" to take, it just takes a LOT of research and time if you wanna do it on your own, which will in turn give you experience, pride, and save you A LOT of costs in labor!

If it were me and I was 18 and had 30K to spend on a car, I would enroll in Wyotech or UTI or someplace like that and learn how to do it all yourself and get a good job in the process. I would love to take classes like that now that I've been doing some work and learning on my car, but house payments, loans, credit cards, bills, and full schedules and a already completed (expensive) bachelor degree make that difficult.

my opinion on fastback:
I like stock body on 67 fastback.
351W or 390 engine.
solid lifters.
fabricated VC.
Hood turn signal indicators.
JBA SS ceramic shorty headers.
black as night inside and out.
clear windows.
OEM style 4 piston KH front disc brakes.
Stock height.
15 or 16" wheels.
VDO instruments.
4 spd top loader.
3.50 rear ratio.
yeah...that would do...
hey santa.........

Talk to http://mustangstofear.com/index.php ask what a Eleanor will cost you.Just slapping the fiberglass only on is just like a civic with a body kit and a fart can you'll get laughed at a lot.

Another Eleanor? I will admit the movie was cool but the affect it has had on the fastback market is sad. It is getting where the common guy can't afford a fastback anymore. If you like the Eleanors then build one but understand that there a ton of guys out there building the same thing you are. Where is the cool in that?

Went to a local car show and was checking out a nice 67 Shelby Mustang. A guy walks by with his girl and she says look honey an Eleanor just like the movie. That is just wrong in evey sense of the word.

Do something original Eleanor has been done to death but if you really want one, keep looking because you will find one that someone has half done and will never get it finished that you could pick up at a discount.

Was trying to imply something like that in a nicer way

Some people like the eleanor mod...i don't care for it.

a mustang mod risks becoming unfashionable in the long term. risk loosing resale value too.

i prefer easily reversible mods.

mod must be 1st class all the way for me to appreciate.

You're probably going to dislike my mustang.....

Haha jk jk, I do not plan, nor could I afford, to do anything outrageous, but I think the resale of a restored 6cyl car would bring less versus the plans for modding my mustang. Of course, that's cause mine was a standard 6cyl coupe. I think a fastback is entering a different realm....

I'm gonna like your new 8 cyl unless you put fiberglass honda ground effects and a wing on the back.

going 6 cyl to 8 cyl is one mod i do like in many cases.

everybody likes different things. i like an engine which looks era correct; carb and all.

i like a nice oem 6 cyl too.

saw a 67 w/ continental wheel mod...that'd take some getting used to....and the 4x4 mudder mustangs........think i'll pass

btw...done right...the 8cyl mod will increase value in my book.

Yeah I'm glad I decided to go back to a 351w carbed. And I agree, a nice restored 6cyl is respectable, just not my favorite.

I've seen a '67 mudstang. ewwwwww
