Rear Tires
What do you want for tread life?
I like the BFG G-Force lineup for street tires. The Sport A/S's are great for daily driving in most non-snow conditions, while the regular Sports are stickier but don't last quite as long. They also come with Michelin/BFG's outstanding quality control. I used to sell tires and Michelin/BFG had by far the least problems with manufacturer defects.

im not too worried about tread life. 15k miles is fine. i am looking for as much hook up as i can get. i live in AZ so snow and rain are not an issue.
What about the nitto 555r tires. i have a buddy running them on a 300c and he seems to like them.

You can't go wrong with either one imo.
I'm running Nitto 555Rs and like them. They say they don't hook as well as softer drag radials (like MTs) but they do last. I have 5K miles on them and they still look new. I run them at 28#. They do hook well in warm weather, at least on the street. I was running some soft 'ultra high performance' tires (supposedly sticky 'ricer' tires) and they did pretty well. But I could punch it anywhere from 30 to 45 in second and send them up in smoke. With the Nittos it squeals a little at first but moves out right away. First is still pretty useless, unless you ease into it, but they hook well in 2nd.
I'm running 245/45 -17s on 17 X 8 late model (01 Bullitt) wheels. That is the largest tire I can get under my car with the wheels/rear end combo I have (65 Mustang with uncut Explorer rear). Nitto is the only DR in that size, so for me it was the only option. They are also pretty reasonable - I paid $160 each mounted and balanced.
The only drawback is cold weather. They come with a sticker that says to take them inside when the temp drops below freezing because the compound gets brittle and will crack if you roll the car.

Get the stickiest ultra high performance summer tires you can find.
Avoid track oriented tires (anything with an R in it) for the street or you will regret it over time, like I did.
