Default Ordered a new carb

Just finished installing the keyless entry 2 way alarm and moved on to ordering one of those Holley based Summit brand carb's to replace my Edelbrock 650. The 600 4 barrel electric choke is on sale for short money; $230 bucks. Figured I'd give it a shot. The Edelbrock is one of the only parts I didnt replace during my resto and needs to be rebuilt. I like the setup and tuning of the Holley's and for that price how do you go wrong.

I'm also changing to an electric fuel pump at the same time to give her a steady supply and to simplify under the hood even more.

Like I always say, a restoration never ends, it just slows down

I'll let you know how it goes.

Careful with those electric fuel pumps. Use a pressure regulator, and you'll need to install some sort of safety shutoff in case of an accident. Many Fords use inertia switches, while some other brands use an oil pressure switch.

My 2 way alarm payed big dividends years ago on another car when my pager went off and I found a pair of legs hanging out my window....somebody got a free trip to the hospital. I will be installing a 2 way pager on the '67 when it's running again.

Let us know how you like the new carb.

Electric pump is not cleaning up anything. Only caused me hassle til I had it right. The only thing it's good for is filling the carb without cranking. If you don't have to change I'd leave it

Very nice lol!

And I agree why install an electric fuel pump unless you are converting to efi. Your mechanic fuel pump pumps plenty of fuel for the carb you should even use a fuel regulator with it.

Ain't that the truth brother. Ya for $230 bucks, that is a bargian. It would probably at least cost you that much to rebuild what you have.
And in my case when I put the late model motor in my car I went with a Holley electric fuel pump and 13 years later has not had one issue.
Let us know how it turns out.

Well this isn't my first rodeo with electric/mechanical fuel pumps and I strongly prefer the electric option.

Taking out the mechanical pump and installing the electric pump at the tank allows for one single line running up the block. A nice chrome pump blockoff plate will help clean up that area.

The electric fuel pump allows for consistant starts. My car is not a daily driver so sits a while between starts. Everytime its a PITA to crank and crank.

I'm thrilled with the only other 2 mods I've done this winter, the 2 way alarm/keyless entry and sequential LED tails. Both are functional and have a cool factor.

I'm very interisted to see what this carb can do. I was planning to rebuild the Edelbrock but for that price I'll give it a shot. I'll let you know the quality and performance. I plan to convert to the Performance Products FI system, but its not going to fly with the wife. She just found out how much I have into the car and that went over like a fart in church.
