Default brake light help

Im having an issue with my '66 brake lights. The lights do work, but when i press the brake in the lights do not come on(brighter) They just stay the same as if i weren't pressing the brakes at all, quite dangerous especially for the driver behind me. What kind of things should i check or look for to solve this?

So what needs to get done here to get the brake lights to come on. Where/ what wires do I need to run and where?

your car came from factory w/ a plug that you simply plug into the brake switch.

look under dash for unused plug; may be playing hide and seek.

no plug?

look at wiring diagram for wire color code and look for loose cut wires.

proper wire disappeared?

have to run new wire per wiring diagram.

should be 2 green wires attatched to the end of the black V shaped plug.. i just dealt with this a few weeks ago.. In 67 they are green but should also be in 66...

So, I was able to find the plug hiding in the dash. I made the connection and still no lights come on when I press the brakes. What else can I check?
