Nifty. No such thing as an "AC" Cobra, though:P

That'll come as a surprise to AC Cars, of Thames Ditton, Surrey, England, who built the cars for Shelby American.

This body, though, surely it's not a leftover original 1965. Looks like an unfinished present-day car, from Shelby American. Or is it an aluminum-bodied Mark IV?

I saw that episode a while back. Yes it is an original. Someone left it in a storage facility if memory serves me and they were mid project when the money train derailed.

*shrug* Carrol Shelby claims "there was never an AC Cobra." One of the things I remember when I saw him speak a few years ago.

He better check with AC/Autokraft, then, because they call the ones built for him "AC Cobras". AC was sold in the early 80's, and Autokraft, who were already building the cars, later aquired the "AC Cars" tooling and all name rights.

There was, about that time, a lawsuit between Shelby and AC, and Shelby won the sole right to call cars "Cobra". No doubt this left him with some bitterness toward AC.

Cobras were made out of cars made by A/C...

That car shell looks kinda new, and I dont see any of that chassis that held it together in the photos?

I say BS. I don't see how anyone would "abandon" something that valuable unless they were dead.

On the other hand of course the stellar reputation of television eliminates any possibility of shenanigans.

BS.
