tie rod or spindle problem HELP
have a 66 mustang old tie rod was flopping around in spindle so I bought a new outer tie rod end from cj and it seems to do the same thing. Does this mean the spindle is bad? I cant seem to find new ones anywhere or is there another fix like a sleeve for the tie rod end or one that has a larger shaft (thats what she said
)
While increasing the size of your shaft may sound like a good idea. In this case the female receptical is just too old, beat up and loose. You need to get youself cleaned up and find a younger female with a tighter hole to stuff your hard shaft into.
christ how can i even pretend to sound serious and follow that up, here goes nothing, did you say you only bought a single tie rod, as in for the trouble side only, i would recommend [ahem] a twosome, any time you mess with one side you should match the repairs on both sides, replace the bushings, do both sides, replace the brake shoes/pads do both side, ... did I just say do both sides - - - I'm outta here

Outer tie rods are not same, so you need to make sure someone hasn't installed other than 65 66 Spindles.
ID numbers are on the upper arm, motor side.
Post these, we'll try to help.
