Default AOD Leaking Help

I have a 67 Mustang with a 351 and an AOD behind it. Recently it started leaking between the tail shaft and the yoke, have not found any threads to help me out. I did replace the rear seal, but to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks guys.

Did you oil the seal before putting it in? It may be folded or your yoke may just need to be polished up a buit at the poing where it contacts the seal. Id just check that first.

Failure to lube the new seal at installation will burn it up in less than three minutes.
I would also add that you should replace the busshing that the yoke rides in as it centers the yoke in the seal and if it is worn then no seal will hold.

Through all the reading I did i read that the seal was a dust seal, nothing more, and that the bushing was probably the culperate. Not sure how hard these are to get in or out, but I will tackle that next week and let ya know the outcome.

The seal is a double lip seal. The outside lip is for dust, the inside lip seals oil in the transmission. The bushing just supports the yoke so the seal can do its job. Use some Vaseline on the lips of the seal before you install it.
There is a tool to remove the bushing without removing the tail housing. It slides in and then telescopes to lock tabs in position. Then you use the threaded rod to pull the seal. You can probably rent or borrow one at the local parts store.
