Default 66 Ignition Cylinder

So I was letting my carb soak so I could get it cleaned up and decided to put in the new ignition cylinder. I got the old one out fairly easy considering I had no key. But when I went to put the new on it wouldn't go in. I compared them and they are slightly different.

The one on the left is the new one. It has that third piece sticking out. Looking in the dash I can see it has the third one, but, the label cover doesn't have that gap for the new one to go in. My question, before I go any farther; Has anyone else seen this and is it possible to get it in or is it the wrong one?

Wrong one, or your switch is from something else.

The new one needs to be indexed to the remove/install position.

If you mean it needs to have the pin pushed and it rotated past that I did do that. It phyiscally will not go past the housing. I contacted CJ Pony and tey are looking into it. It is a Scott Drake part, first I've used. Think I understand the thread last week very well now. This scares the heck out of me as there will eventually be alot of things replaced and it seems they are the only ones make parts.

The new one looks exactly like the one I put in my 67. I'm not sure if there is a difference between them.

Thanks, their package must have been mislabeled, as I suspected. Still waiting to hear back from them. Thanks for all your help guys!

There are different part numbers for the '65-'66 and the '67-'69 cylinders. What does the key for the new one look like? They are different too.
