Amen to that! I would never advertise what I got under the hood. Love a good sleeper.

I like when poeple put radio stickers on thier car like what kind of speakers they have and such. JL audio, kicker etc. Its like saying "break into me!"

 

best thing i saw one time was a stock looking white coupe.Engine was black with gold valve covers and original air cleaner. Guy started it up and it was was the nastiest engine i heard at the show,made everybody turn around and do a double take

 

I seen a bone stock ugly greenish color 96 GT at a John Force show. Even had stock wheels but I noticed the MTs in the back so I wanted to look at it. Under the hood was a carbed dart block 408 with a paxton. Arizona plates im guessing for smog reasons.

 

Thats a great idea! Ive only raced two cars in my stang and one guy asked what the hell I had under the hood. I said 289. He flipped me off and wanted to see. I opened my hood and he goes. Wow it is a 289! Good times

 

I guess it depends on what you are doing with the car..Sure the sleeper thing is cool if you are doing some racing with the car and want to freak people out a little...In my case I was originally running my 302 decaled valve covers and air cleaner on my 408..I take the car to shows more than I drag race and 95% of the people wouldn't bat an eye at the 302 decals..All but the most die hard ford guys can't really tell the difference between a 302 and a 351 block..
I get much more pleasure out of telling people its a 408 and what all it has done to it and the ins and outs of building one..
