Question Distributor Timing?

What can cause your distributor timing to change? I recently took out the points and condensor and switched it to a pertronix ignition, could that change the timing?

Sure. Changing the dwell changes the timing. If your dwell wasn't perfect before, it'll definitely have different initial timing now.

I believe it tells you right in the pertronix instructions to check your timing after the install..

ya. the exact moment the points open it will cause the coil to fire. so if the points are getting older it usually causes them to wear off at the contact plate, that causes them to open sooner. to avoid all that crap you install the pertronix. but once you do you have to adjust ignition. good news, once you do it it should 'stay' now
