Carburetor problem??
ya, there should be no clearance whatsoever when Throttle plate is closed, however when fully open the accel pump needs to be able to move another millimeter or so (so it cannot bind)
1-1/2 turns with two corner idle is good starting point alright. however I slapped a 570cfm on a 350ci Chevy on Saturday and the idle was best at only 1 turn out. My 4 corner carb is 3/4 out on all four.
I'm still not sure from reading this where exactly you have hesitation
cruising as well?
only the first second or so when driving off and is instantly cured by accellerating more?
generally when accellerating?
first thing to do on _any_ holley carb when you put it on is
set the curb idle then set the float levels and then go back to curb idle and mixture.
Once that is done set the accellerator pumps. there must not be any clearance whatsoever with throttle plate closed. this is important as for the throttle movement to 'fill the gap' you are running lean (no pump shot) and you _will_ feel that has a bog when driving off.
So make sure that when the engine idles the accellerator pump spring (with the two nuts) does not have any play up/down. sideways is ok.
when all that is set a good tip is to ever so slightly tap the accellerator pump down (only the slightest bit), if it imrpoves the idle your mixture is too lean. (only very slight quick tapping). if it gets worse you're too rich already
off idle bog is usually one of those 3:
- floats too low
- lean idle mixture
- misadjusted accellerator pump
of course it can be improved with diffrent pump cam and squirter size, but make sure you have the basics right first.
(all of the adjustments above with choke _off_)

yes u both r right i forgot to put (starting point) when setting floats if you trust urself enough take the bowls off and turn them upside down and then turn the screw the correct way. then throw it back on then run it then take out the site screw and with a gental bump on right side fender it should barely come out
