If you find something that works, let me know. There are a lot of articles on line but I would like to find someone that has actually done it before I try it. Good luck.

Thanks-good article, but my facilities and expertise make this more than I can do myself. I have to get someone to do all my welding and there are a lot of professional, non-professionals out there. I think I have found every one at some point in time. Before I knew about these forums, I ate a $20,000 bankruptcy from a "friend" who owned a Mustang shop who I bought my 65 shell and crate engine from. As soon as I learned of these forums I looked his business up and it said he was a scam artist for many years. Hard learned and VERY expensive lesson.

Dennis I used o7 GT seats in my 66. They are very easy to bolt in. Minor mods to tracks. I retained they power functions on both seats. Im 5'6 and still felt the need to lower the seat pans. Ill post some pics later if you want them.

Pics would be awesome. What did you have to do to wire the seats? Cheers.

Pics would be great. The problem with lowering the pans is I simply do not feel I have the technical skills nor a welder. I read an article I was sent yesterday about lowering them. I am sure I can find someone knowledgeable enough to do the work. I'm glad you told me that because that is the route I was heading and I am 6' tall. I have been looking for a 1 piece, solid headliner but have not found one. Found one for a 65 fastback but mine is a coupe. Any ideas on that? Like to see your pics. Thanks.

The pics are of the seat track. The tracks are slightly wider than the 66. The rear of the track was cut off and a piece of metal 1x2x1/4 was welded to the outside track and a piece of 1x1x1/4 was welded to the inside track. You can see this in the pic. the wiring is simple if you get to that point I can post a diagram with wiring colors.

The nice thing about the Procar Elites is that they are a dense foam base and are very slimline. They sit very low. Good for us over 6.2" They are comparably priced with reupholstering any used factory seats.

And they are a basically a direct bolt in. Same track width as the stocks

Thanks for sending the pics. Nice looking seats. Sure look more comfortable than my 65 seats. Ingenious way to make them fit. It doesn't look like it would take a lot of welding and would be an economical swap. Thanks much for the info.

Good looking seats. I have read about those before but was trying to save a few $ but it seems so much easier to just make the swap. How comfortable are they? I am only 6' so that answers that question. It seems every time I try to scrimp, it ends up costing me twice as replacing anyway. One more question. I am having to tear my headliner out and put a new one in due to poor installation by the previous shop. How hard was putting your 3-point harness in? My car has just been painted so welding is out, I think. Thanks.
