Default Coil spring difference and recommendations.

I thought I could wait a while before having to change the 6 cylinder spring to v8 springs but apparently I have to order some now. My concern would be I have long tube headers and currently the are about an 1 1/2 of the ground. I am doing some research and haven't figured out the difference in most of them. I have read about the 620 for a weekend and once in a while daily driver or the regular v8 springs. I am currently running 225/45/17 by 8 up front with a 4.5 backspace. Also should a go for the ones that have an 1" drop of the regular size. I would like the fender to be about an 1" or so above the front tire. My question would be what should I get if I have long tube, 17" rims 225/45 with the shelby drop done already.

I have the same set up with 225 tires. The 620 coils will be perfect. My fender lips are just over an inch from the tire and could be trimmed if needed.

Texas, did you happen to get the 620 regular or the ones with an inch drop? Thanks would you happen to be running long tubes? If so would you happen to know about how high of the ground they are? I'm regretting having gone with long tubes, live and learn.

I run 620's on my daily driver, some find them too stiff, but I don't. I almost think they're too soft sometimes.

That said, if you think 620's are going to save you from scraping/damaging your headers....they won't.

I guess what i am trying to say is that 1st pic is how it currently sits and the second pic is how I would like to end up having it. Do you guys suggest the regular size or the ones with a 1" drop? And could you clear up what you mean by stiff. Do you feel every bump, I doubt I will be going over ugly roads as much as possible since it's too low. I took the car out of the garage and drove it about 100 ft and my header was dragging most of the time it (header) has a flat spot on the bottom. I doubt that any spring I end up getting will completely save them but would help to have them a little higher off the ground.

Mine are the 1" drop springs and I also did the Shelby drop. I'm using tri-y headers which tuck up very tight to the bottom of the car. If they scrape, the subframe will scrape.

I can see from the pic that yours hang down 2-3 inches, so with my setup you'll still probably scrape a lot.

A lot of the ride quality will be determined by the shocks you use. KYB Gas-A-Justs will be stiff and jarring no matter what spring you use. KYB GR-2's will be smoother, if not quite as good for handling. Edelbrock IAS's or Bilsteins will get you the best of both worlds.

When I did my v8 swap,I tried the stock version v8 springs and found them sitting too tall.I went to the 1 inch drop springs and got the right ride height.I also have long tube headers that u can see hanging down but have little trouble with dragging.
