Default 347 engine goes in this weekend!

Changed the rear end ratio to 3.55, installed a new T5Z. Plan to drop the motor in this weekend. Here is what I went with...

347 short block
Pro Comp castings
machine shop assembled heads 2.02/1.60
Custom Cam 226/232@50 .540 lift on 12 lsa
Edelbrock performer rpm intake
Holley 650 double pumper carb

Still debating on whether or not to put headers on this right now. Currently I have the HIPO manifolds. I would like to see how it performs first.

Don't be, it's a money pit...haha. Besides you have a 67, that was my first mustang. Loved it to death. Bought it back in 1986 for $2,400 in excellent condition... 8.5/10. Had a stock 289 that never failed me!

ohhh btw. check the port size (exhaust) on the head and compare that with the manifold you want to put on. manifold smaller than the head port you will cause a lot of turbulence and 'push-back' for lack of a better word. performance might be not what you'd expect it to be. i think this is something that probably needs headers. no idea what your heads are like so have a quick check.

Will do Kalli. I know that the HIPO manifolds have larger port openings than the factory 289 non hipo manifolds. I will definitely check those out against the heads, the motor will be here today. If there is a significant difference I will start looking for headers. It's kind of tricky to find the right fit for my mustang because I have the Zbar clutch linkage and power steering.
