Default 1965 347/T5 conversion headers/H-pipe question

Hey guys,

After looking at the exhaust ports on my aluminum heads and comparing those to the ports on my HIPO manifold, I have decided I MUST go with headers for my set up! So, can you give me some recommendations of the right header and H-pipe that will clear everything, including the transmission? I would like to go to a 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 pipe but at least for now I will have to weld in reducers near the end so that my factory trumpets will work as I want to keep those on the car. My car does have the Zbar linkage and power steering. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!

work ya, but it will upset the airflow, which is the last thing you want making any kinda HP. It shoots out the cylinder and then hits a wall causing turbulences I guess.

I was hoping someone with that combo would jime in on what they used. But ya, calling FPA might be a very good idea. they'll sort you out when you describe what you have. easier than crosschecking 1000 headers ....

We've been telling you that since you started asking for advice on your engine build..Glad to see you are going to run headers..I would go with 2 1/2 exhaust with nice mandrel bends..You may be able to do some surgery on the tips to make them work...

frdnut, have you heard anything about the mac long tubes with the H-pipe? After looking at many different headers, these seem like they would fit the best. They have the ball and socket as well. One thing that makes me skeptical is the low price 219.00 plus 170.00 for the H-pipe. I also have not had experience with headers that do not have the flange that bolts to the head.

You get what you pay for with headers. There's a reason coated Dougs or FPA's cost $600+ to get.

I agree, and I don't have a problem forking out 800 for headers and an Hpipe. I am looking for something that will fit my set up that I can put together at home before I drop the engine in. I can't find a long tube with an H-pipe that will work so far.

Did you call Stan? He will tell you if his header will fit your combination.
