Dougs LT's, then get a universal 2.5 x 2.5 Dr. Gas x-pipe setup. Do you have a welder? Or take it to an exhaust shop and have them weld it. Either way, you need the engine in to fit everything correctly.

if your going to reduce the exhaust pipes for the trumpets you might as well put on some crappy headers. there is no point to put on a free flowing exhaust and then choke it right before it has a chance to go out.

The trumpets start at 1 3/4 -2" and cones to 2 3/4. have whomever is going to do the exhaust cut the trumpet cone at the 2 1/2 point and weld to it. If done correctly you wont notice, the trick is to not have the trumpet stick out so far from the valance.

very true, that;s a good idea. however there's a huge difference creating a wall at the head and slimming up the exhaust. i think wall at head is worst case scenario

Kalli,

What do you think about the JBA mid length headers? Do you like the Hookers that you have on your car? Was really looking for a ball and socket connection to the h-pipe and I don't see that on the hookers...

No I have no experience with those headers or the ball socket type connection..If you use good quality gaskets and DON"T over torque the bolts on the flange the normal style 3 bolt works fine too..Alot of guys torque the bolts too tight and warp the flange causing distortion and leaks between the 3 bolts....I have never had a problem with cheapy style headers but in your case you may have to buy a good quality header to get port openings that match the port size of your heads..I would measure your port size and then ask the manufacturer of the headers their port size until you get a match....

Thanks for the reply. I am going with the Mac ceramic long tubes 1 5/8" primaries, and 2 1/2" H-pipe and exhaust. They appear to offer good ground clearance and I have not found anything horrible about them on a 65 mustang. I will post how they worked out.

That's what I will do, have the exhaust guys cut the trumpet and weld 2 1/2" pipe to it. I don't let my trumpets stick out very far at all anyway. I will probably bend the vents up a bit as well.
